How do I get involved?
Glad you asked (you enthusiastic, hypothetical you)! We host auditions for our 4 umbrella groups (Standup, Improv, Poetry, and Sketch) at the beginning of every semester. We also have auditions for our slot shows and playwrights! To stay updated on when those are taking place and just everything FET, check out our Instagram and sign up for our email list.
Acting not your thing? No worries! If you want to pitch a full length slot show, they'll be voted on democratically by FET members in a voting processes that involves ZERO geographic gerrymandering. If you have any questions regarding slot show submissions, check out this sample of a comprehensive proposal sheet or reach out to us. If writing an 60+ page show is a bit daunting to you, but you still want to write something for us, try for our playwrights festival! It's perfect for original, short play submissions and all you have to do is email us the summary! Then our e-board will review all the plays submitted and get back to you ASAP about whether or not your work has been accepted.
If none of that suits your fancy, we're also ALWAYS looking for tech help. If tech is your thing, you should check out FUBS (Fordham University Backstage) and they'll get you sorted with doing everything tech not only for us when we need it, but for ANY AND/OR ALL THE THEATER GROUPS!!! They're an amazing group of people who also love tech so you should DEFINITELY check them out!
We're constantly looking for new talent to write/act/work on our shows, so if at first you don't succeed, try again! NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! If you think you can, you probably could and it doesn't hurt to try :)
